Hey academics: If it's not on the Internet, it doesn't exist. Post your content in journals I can access without paying $30 for the pleasure of a download.
I bet you know someone with access to a sweet VPN client that can get you access to a lot of those $30 journals for free. I like your "if it's not on the internet, it doesn't exist" stance though. I agree.
I think that should apply to books too. I technically have access to most books through the public library system--assuming I'm willing to wait 6 weeks for the book I want to be delivered. Why don't they have nationally subsidized initiatives to scan an upload all books? I'd still buy the ones I love. I'd just access the ones I usually loan out online instead of at the library.
Oh, when I'm queen of everything, things are gonna change!
